I have just printed the vigil booklets.
…and then realised that I forgot to change the readings to Year A.
Enough trees have died this week.  I confess and apologize now to anyone alert enough to notice.

the work of the people

 
So, the vandals have come.
I’m sorry the church has been damaged.
I’m sorry the congregation were distressed.
I’m sorry the children are so bored and isolated that destruction seems fun.
But their timing was superb.

the letter of the law

I failed to communicate again.
‘We leave in silence’ is not a sufficient rubric for Maundy Thursday. It simply led to everyone stopping outside the church door to chat after the morning service.
Next year — ‘we disperse without speaking’ perhaps?
Or — ‘You are a frightened disciple. Flee.’

a step too far

There are clearly too many liturgies floating round my head right now.  I found myself in a long queue at HMV, automatically half stepping to match the person in front when he set off on his left foot and I set off on my right.
